Fabrication of Clotrimazole Microparticles Using Polyethylene Glycol 6000 and Beeswax

Background Microparticles are one of drug delivery systems designed for sustained and controlled release drugs a long period time. Clotrimazole is broad-spectrum antifungal agent, which generally used treatment Candida albicans others fungal infections. Objective The present study aims to fabricate microparticles using beeswax (lipophilic coating) polyethylene glycol (hydrophilic coating). Methods In this study, by (PEG 6000) were prepared spray drying technique. Morphology size the assessed optical microscopy scanning electron microscopy. Particle analyses performed Zetasizer rate was measured ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. To interactions between carriers, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) used. Results Size below 1000 µm. from PEG 6000 had quasicrystalline crystalline morphologies, respectively. maximum in 6 hours 80.53% formulation F3 (microparticles beeswax) 79.29 F6 6000). FTIR results showed probable clotrimazole beeswax. Conclusion Both polymers result similar release; however, since has with clotrimazole, 600 seems be more appropriate fabrication microparticles.
